I have a marriage cert for John Raymen b.1810c (wdwr) & Eliza Cross b.1830c (spinster) in 1853, Islington, Middx. His father's name is John, both have occupation as "Tin Man".
However I am unable to trace the family in any of the census apart from 1861, when John is transcribed as 'Thos Raymon'.
I am looking for any info. which will give me John/Thomas's birth (believed Shoreditch) and or previous residences / marriage.
Are the older children his & eliza's pre marriage or from his 1st marriage??

but i have just looked at the 61 census you have seen where john is transcribed as thos, yes this is true, but are you saying that eliza cross was his wife who he married in 1853? as it says on the census that she was the mother and 60 years old.
also on the census it says that his occupation is a coffee shop keeper and not a tin man.
