Default Any records for John Raymen

I have a marriage cert for John Raymen b.1810c (wdwr) & Eliza Cross b.1830c (spinster) in 1853, Islington, Middx. His father's name is John, both have occupation as "Tin Man".

However I am unable to trace the family in any of the census apart from 1861, when John is transcribed as 'Thos Raymon'.

I am looking for any info. which will give me John/Thomas's birth (believed Shoreditch) and or previous residences / marriage.

Are the older children his & eliza's pre marriage or from his 1st marriage??

    Hi Wag,

Sorry if im being stupid but i have just looked at the 61 census you have seen where john is transcribed as thos, yes this is true, but are you saying that eliza cross was his wife who he married in 1853? as it says on the census that she was the mother and 60 years old.

Or is it eliza janes mother? im somewhat abit confused also on the census it says that his occupation is a coffee shop keeper and not a tin man.

    Im sorry to go on

    Hi Kim,

Yes i have seen this and thought it was him however it states Mary's age as 24, so unless she had her eldest child at 13 or could be error +/- 5yrs or s/b 34yrs old.

As for possible marriages from Pallots - 1825 John Reyman & Mary Woodliff?

On the 1861 census the eldest son is James b.1850c 3 yrs b4 marriage to Eliza.

Yes i know its odd, but both Eliza (31) and her mother (60) & the children are correct. On the marriage cert it does say both he & father are tin men. So i can only assume, he had some luck or change of fortune.
