Thread: John and Jean Nimmo - deaths

Can anyone help with death record for John Nimmo Ratho Midlothian Scotland & his wife Jean Young they both died at the same time,they are on the 1841 census for Ratho aged 35 & 30 they must have died sometime between then and son Williams birth, and 1851 census when William is 8 and bording with his elder brother John at valleys of bonnington ratho.

I have tried Scotlands people but no luck.

Unfortunately as you probably know deaths were not registered in Scotland until 1855. There was often no record prior to that. There are a few projects around trying to transcribe burials etc which are available but I can't find your two Nimmos - I understand that work is being done on a Scottish Burial Index so maybe one day you will find them!

However I think the LDS may hold the parish registers for Ratho so I would advise you to contact your local LDS family history centre - for a small charge they will send for them on loan and you can then view them at the centre
