    Hi Nigel,

How sure are you that jack was born in Ireland?

The only reason being is i have found a john Joseph Sheehan in 1901 census.

When i looked at the image the first name clearly isnt john, its more like jack.

His father is also Michael Sheehan born ireland.

The only thing is that jack was born lancashire Salford Borough.

When i have searched for jack i came up with nothing.

I will post the results anyway, cause you never know in this game

michael Sheehan 38 railway Checker Born Ireland (?arlow)

Elizabeth sheehan 29 Shirt ? essex Warden?

Jack joseph Sheehan 15 Also works with the railway Lancashire salford borough

Ada Sheehan 4 born lancashire manchester

Clearly from that elizabeth possible may not have been jacks mother, so michael must have been married before.

    Hi Nigel,

    Again on 91 census.

Name: John J Sheehan Age: 5 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886 Relation: Son Father's Name: Michael Mother's Name: Elizabeth Gender: Male Where born: Salford, Lancashire, England

Civil Parish: Salford Ecclesiastical parish: St Philip Town: Salford County/Island: Lancashire Country: England

Household Members: Name Age Elizabeth Sheehan 40 John J Sheehan 5 Michael Sheehan 35

This time another elizabeth but wrong age for the elizabeth on the 1901.

But im really confused cause they must have messed up michaels age on one of them. Michaels occupation is still a railway worker.

Also elizabeth was also born in ireland.

I will have a look for some marriages for michael.

    Hi There,

There is a marriage for a michael sheehan to an elizabeth johnson 1898 chorlton lancashire.

I will apologise if i have lead you up the wrong path with all this stuff.

I just couldnt find anything relating to jack coming from ireland. so what with his marriage taking place in Kent, im assuming that they came from ireland to england at some point.

Maybe someone else can find some info on him just incase i am completely mad lol and gone right off the radarD

Hi Kelly, first of all I would like to thank u for all your hard work. Reading through all the information gave me goosebumps. The sad thing I have to add is that grandad was 29 (or should i say the marriage certificate shows him at that age in Sept 1918) which takes his birth back to 1889. This would of made him 12 in 1901. I dont know if this helps but on an army record his name is recorded as Joseph Sheehan. This is my theory - Grandad was Roman Catholic, for one reason or another ex communicated and he ended up in England where instead of being known as Jack Joseph (as per mariage certificate) let himself be known as Joseph. Can I get back to you later as an aunt of mine lives in the flat that my grand parents moved into back in the twenties and she may know if he was known as Joseph. I am so grateful for your time Kind regards Nigel PS u r not mad

Kelly, with all the excitement i missed something you had found first time round. on the marriage certificate michael sheehan father of jj sheehan is shown as deceased and was a railway worker. The goosebumps have come back again - NIgel
