This may seem odd, but any idea where and when John married Elizabeth?

I am sorry but I am afraid I have not had much success looking for your - I couldn't even find them on a census (not a John married to an Elizabeth that is). I did find a John Goode as grandparent to a number of children's baptism in 1804 and 1806 (the parents of the children, Ann and Ellis Lobb being Ellis Shipley Lobb and Elizabeth (presumably nee Goode). Ann's was in the church of St Michael Lequerne, London. Ann's baptism was 18 Mar 1804, and Ellis Shipley Lobb was baptised 27 Oct 1806 at St Mary's Islington. There was also a daughter, Eleanor, also baptised at St Mary's on 12 Mar 1811 and John is also given as grandparent, so he may - or not - be the grandfather of your John.

I did find a court entry for a John Good but he is too young to be yours! It was in 1835 and he was aged 16. You may like to read the entry for yourself - it is for the Quarter Sessions and is:

    http://www.hrionline.ac.uk/ccc/brows...2F18350706.xml

It is a very long document and going by the slider on the right the entry you want is just over half way down.

Sorry not to be more helpful. It may well be worth approaching the record office that holds that IGI entry and getting a copy of the actual entry which may well give more information.

If there is any more information you have that would point me in the right direction then I will happily have another look for you - just sorry haven't had more success so far.
