    Default Arthur Boswell

    Hi,

I'm trying to find more information on an Arthur Boswell born around 1885 (place unknown).

In 1913 Arthur married Elsie Coulter in Salford and lists his occupation / address as Police Constable at Regent Road Police Station, Salford. His father is James Boswell (deceased) a master joiner.

I can't find Arthur on any census ... there is a family in London (father James and mother Sophia) but this is not the right family.

Elsie died in 1919 and apparently Arthur abandoned his son (I have his details and know what happened to him). There is no record of him with the Police museum in Manchester.

Any information would be gratefully received.... thanks

    Thanks Gillian,

Perhaps the school will have records to say what happened to Arthur after he left. I can find the others in 1901 but not him .... haven't had a proper look yet inc different ways of spelling surname.

Don't you just wish they would release the 1911 census ha ha.

    Will keep looking

    Dear All,

I now have a bit more information ..... I have found Arthurs Army pension record and found that he served with the RAMC before being discharged in 1919. He had previous service with the Royal Irish Rifles from 1909 - 1912 and must have come to Manchester between 1912 and 1914 to marry Elsie.

The address on this record marries up with Elsies address on the wedding certificate ... Hadfield Street, Cornbrook, Manchester. His forwarding address in 1919 after she died is in Fleetwood so he possibly settled in that area. His previous occupation was as a musician at the Ardwick Green Empire in Manchester.

Don't know when he fitted the time in to become a Policeman.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks ... Jan
