Thread: Watton family look-up 1871

Hi Everyone,



I am looking for my Watton family in the 1871 census. Edwin FrancisWatton born 1839 married Eliza Bowen bornc1845? were married in 1862. Both were listed as living in Hurst Street, Birmingham.



I am unable to find any of the family in the 1871 census but in the1881 census Edwin Francis and Eliza Watton had six children and were living at 47 Bk Guilford Street, Birmingham.



The two oldest children, who should be with them in the 1871 census were William Watton born c1862 (can't find his birth) and Edwin Francis Watton born March 10 1869 at 4 Court, Newhall St. Birmingham. Father Edwin Francis was a gun/action filer.



I would appreciate help with this brick wall.

Thanks for trying to help with my Watton family. Unfortunately, the people you found are not my ancestors. I have found William Thomas Watton, one of the children of Edwin Francis Watton was born in 1864 and was baptised at Christ Church on 17 May 1869 together with his brothers George Alfred Watton (b. 1867) and Edwin Francis Watton (born 10 March 1869). At that time, the Watton family were living at 4 Court, Newhall Street. The family are sometimes transcribed as Walton. I have tried both spellings as well as each of the children's names in order to find them in 1871 but having had any luck so far.
