Thread: Looking for a marriage

Hello everyone. I am looking for the marriage of my uncle Richard McManus who was born in Dundee. I am not sure if he married in Scotland or England. I think maybe the late 1940's or sometime in the 50's would be about the right date. According to my cousin he married a German lady but unsure of her name. I know there were at least 2 children from this marriage whom I only met once when I was a teenager. I am not sure where they were born. My Uncle died in Hammersmith in London many years ago. One of you guys found him for me. Any help on this marriage would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Raven. I am actually hoping he was married in England. He spent most of his adult life there as far as I am aware cos we only saw him now and then. Usually New Year when he would come first footing to our house.

Hopefully someone will do an England search for me. Thanks for your time Raven.



Have you any idea if they are indexing marriages on SP like they have with births and deaths. I wasn't even aware that they had done that until a few weeks ago when I was able to come back to the comp. Nice surprise D

Haven't heard anything yet Mollie... It is nice that you can now access the births and deaths up to 2006. Even though it is only the indexes..lol

I found it a great help cos it gave me at least the year in which some of my close rellies were born or died. So really has helped filled in a few blanks.

Hi Raven. I have no idea if this is him, all I know is he married a German girl. I have no clue whether he spent any time in Lancashire or not. Richard was born in 1929 in Dundee and his wife was younger than him but don't know by how much. He was a bit of a mystery man me Uncle

Have checked Find my Past overseas marriages.. nothing there.

have been through ancestry marriages from 1945 until 1955..

The only other two marriages I came across for a Richard McManus

were

1952 4th Qtr Plymouth Vol7a pg 1301 spouse name Mabel J Walker

1954 4th Qtr Fulham Vol 5c Pg 888 spouse name Jean McNair.
