Thread: Searching for Goodridge - Lane marriage

hi all

I am looking for my nan Gladys eleanor goodridge,i was going to do this 5 weeks ago with my mum but he died 11th april, it ws her family we were going to do.My aunt mums sis has asked me to do some looking for anything about her parents.

My nan never spoke about her family have no idea if she has siblings an dont no her parents names.she ws born in tenby 12th dec 1906 or 1907,my aunt now tells me that my nan wouldnt say if her an my grandad were married or not(what a puzzle)ok my nan gladys goodridge married or not herbert henry lane an they lived in leistershire my nan died 1988 sept in rutland

This looks like your Nan's birth ref. (if you want to send for the cert.)

The above are the references you'll need to send for her birth certificate. The cert. will give her parents' names and from there we should then be able to trace back through the census.

I'm sure you have this but it might help in searching for a marriage -

Pearl M M Lane mother's maiden name Goodridge 4th quarter 1937 Ely 3b 659

I guess the R is just a mistake.

Many thanks,this is amazing i havent been able to find all that out,have got her birth cert comming,with the marraige cert did they often make mistakes as with her middle name?how do you do all this so quick

my mum birthday was 14 th dec 1940

name lorna jen Evans nee Lane. only no my aunts first name which is pearl she not sure when born but a year ot 2 older than my mum,her first marraige was to Arthur Moncaster,dont no when, they diorvced then she married Ernie Wright he died in 1990's

That particular mistake pretty unusual I would say - I guess someone with bad handwriting along the line.

Finding the references is usually a matter of trawling through the BMD indexes year by year
