Thread: Burton of Stalham

Hello again - I'm kinda hogging the boards tonight.... (or just this one)



After info on the Burton family of Stalham - any information will be great!! All I have is Mary Burton born 1789, Stalham married Robert Ward in 1822. She died 1870. I assume her brother was Thomas born c.1791, Stalham as he is with her son and daughter on the '71.



According to a descendant chart from the Keeler family (Ward side) Mary was the daughter of Thomas & Sarah (née Jermy??), but I can't verify this because I have been unable to locate any records on baptism etc. for Stalham in the period I am looking for - any ideas??



Also, if you could check to see if there are any other Burtons who would have been born around the right time frame in Stalham to be siblings of Mary & Thomas.



Really wanting to get info on this family as it's one of those branches that are looking kinda bare...

There is also another marriage 1822 Sprowston as well as Robert Ward.& Mary Burton.

Also her mother was Sarah JERMY! But as yet not connected to the rest of them, Chris. Thanks for the marriage record - one of their sons' middle names was Gambling so I had suspicions......

Hey, as a result of last night's findings I am now trying to track down Nathaniel Burton, born 1785 in Stalham. He was the only surviving brother (apart from Thomas) of my Mary.



His wife 'may' have been Susanna

That Nathaniel I believe is the grandfather of the one I am looking for as all, second lot, of children mentioned fit ones I have found. But his youngest son George, who was underage, make things confusing - but interesting. A George was born to Nathaniel & Mary (Rice) in 1806 but this would make Nathaniel about 70 years old at his birth!! Judging by the date of his first marriage...
