Thread: Bankrupts!

Can anyone give me any advice about finding lists of people declared bankrupt in the 1930's?

They were usually published in the London Gazette (index online at www.gazettes-online.co.uk and at the National Archives) - also possibly in the Times (Times Digital Archive available in most areas if you have a library card).

Some records are kept in local archives - search A2A site for availability.

May be on theoriginalrecord.com - but this is a pay site and unless the name is unusual it is probably not practical because of the cost.

There is a research guide on the National Archives website 'Bankruptices after 1869' which is useful.
