    Default 1891 Census

Ohh... I am really stumped here and I wonder if anyone can help..

I have a family of Ewing/Ewings/Ewens/Ewins(my 2x gr grandparents to be exact).. I have found them on the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 census returns. I can't find them on the 1891 Census.

William Ewing(abt 1832) and his wife Elizabeth Ewing(abt 1832) were living at Bonnyton Col. House, Hillhead, Kilmarnock. His occupation was that of Carter/Contractor.

I know that they were still there on the 10 July 1891 from my gr grandmother's marriage cert and in 1898 from William's Death Certificate.

    William Ewing abt 1832

    Elizabeth Ewing abt 1832

    Elizabeth J Ewing 1870

    Alexander Ewing abt 1867

    Samuel Ewing abt 1886

    Can anyone help??

    Thank you

    Hi Raven

I've had a really good look - and I can't find them on Ancestry. They should be in parish 597, ED 21 in 1891, which is the same ref's as for 1881.

Can't find Alexander the son in 1901 either, but I think Samuel might be there in 1901 married on 43 Montgomery Rd Kilmarnock - this was a road very close to Bonnington (the 1881 transcribes the street as Bonnington).

I've got the 1881 CD, and I've tried finding neighbours in the 1881, on the 1891 too....one would think some of them were also still in the same place, In 1881, abt 6 households away from the EWINGS was a family at 15 Montgomery, Alexander and Janet PETRIE. They are at the same place in 1891. Unfortunately with the Ancestry data for this part of the 1891, one can't browse the pages in a particular ED, nor call up a particular ED to look at. One idea would be - if you could access the Census on Microfische, I guess starting from the PETRIES who are certainley there and then browse back and forward to try find the EWINGS? or at least their address?

    Cheers
