    Default Irene Dyson

Irene Dyson known as Rene was my grandmother's half sister.

Her parents were Thompson Dyson and Mary Alice Wakefield and they lived in Nelson in Lancashire although Thompson was from Haworth, Yorkshire which is where my grandmother was born.

Irene was married to Alan Cox in 1944 and they celebrated their silver wedding in 1969 in Nelson which my grandparents attended.

I can't however, find a birth record for her.

As far as I know she had no children. There is also some connection to the name Olivia - this may be Rene's sister or Alan's sister.

If anyone knows anything about this person please make contact.

    Hi Glojo21,

Do you have an approximate year for Irene's birth? Also do you know if Mary Alice was married, before she married Thompson?

My grandmother's mother died in 1916 and Thomson remarried Mary Alice Wakefield in 1916.

So I assumed that Rene was born sometime between 1916 and 1926 to make her old enough to be married in 1944. I have search the birth records for all those years and some either side because I thought perhaps Thompson might have been 'carrying on' with Mary Alice before his wife died.

I now know that Rene had measles in 1923 as I have found an old diary of my grandmother's. But still unale to find birth.

I have no idea if Mary Alice was married before so Wakefield could be her maiden or married name. She lived for many years after Thompson died so I have always assumed she was quite a bit younger.

    Brilliant!

I have come across this Dearnaley name before but never been able to establish the link. So I am optimistic that this information is correct.

I will look to see if Thomas Wakefield died between 1910 and 1916.

    Many thanks

    Jo
