    Default 1871, 1881 and 1891 Look-Up Request

    Hi

I am looking for a George Stacey born Taunton district, Somerset in 1863. His father was George, a stonemason. I don't have the names of his mother or his siblings. In 1897 he married Catherine Collyer in South Stoneham, Hants. Could someone please help me?

    Thanks in advance,

    sudjhr

Hi, The only thing that I have found that could be a possibe is this on the 1901c..

    RG13; Piece: 1064; Folio: 39; Page: 27. 1 Pasadene Gate, South Stoneham.

George Stacey head age 34, Taunton Somerset, waiter in officers mess..

Kate Stacey wife age 24, Ash Aldershot Hants

    Alice Stacey age 4, Netley

William Stacey son age 1, Netley

James Small age 40 Boarder Taunton Somerset.

Catherine is often shortened to kate..and the childrens ages fit nice if he was married in 1897

Could someone else take a look and see what they think please...

    Hi Light

Thanks very much. I have his marriage certificate for 1897 which states that his father was George, a stonemason. At the time of marriage he was 34, so I think the age on the census could be wrong. Also when he died in 1917 his age was given as 54 meaning that he was most probably born in 1863. I have the Taunton 1867 birth certificate for him, but this is not in accordance with his marriage certificate as the father on that is John, a mower.

His occupation on his marriage certificate is army pensioner. Maybe in that case the army would have something on him?

    Regards,

    Morning Sudjhr,

Sorry to be a pain but can you give the witnesses names on the marriage cert.

I have looked on Ancestry for army records but as yet no luck.

As Georges father was deceased at the time of his marriage and not knowing when he died I just cant find a George with a father George a stonemason.

His father could have died when he was a baby and his mother re married? He could be using his birth name, a stepfathers name or even a mothers maiden name?

Maybe the witnesses will shed some light!

Georges father was deceased on Georges marr cert and the witnesses were..

William Ernest Russell and Louisa Barnes. They were living in Netley

Abbey Village, Hound. They married in South Stoneham..

    Hi

I had a look and the only George Stacey, stone mason, that I could find in Somerset (or Devon) was on the 1871. He was 29, b Nether Stowey, and had a wife (Selina, 24, b Salisbury) with children Lilla (5), Ernest (3) and Clara (1).

Found them in the 1881, with more children but no George.

Though Light's 1901, with George as a waiter in officers mess, looks likely.

I found the 1871 census and hoped this was the family and maybe little George was staying with relatives. I havent found him yet ...

I also wondered could the John Stacey on the same Page also a mason be big Georges father?

But if this is the family wheres little George lol..
