Thread: brick wall

I wonder if anyone can help? my father-in-law was born in 1907 and we have a copy of his birth certificate which states both parents and that they were married, however, we do know that he was adopted at some time, dont know if it was at birth or later. I am able to trace his father back to his birth in 1875. The problem is that i can find no record of the marriage or deaths for either parents. I believe that i have found his father on 1901 census and he was in the army. my father -in -laws birth certificate also states his fathers occupation as being in the army so that part of my research is probably also correct. where do i go from here?

Fathers name was bertram charles turner, mothers name was agnes linton and the birth was registered in portsmouth hampshire.

If you post the names of your father-in-laws parents someone will double-check their marriages and deaths

The names have been added, if anyone can help.

I couldn't find a marriage either - looks as if they didn't marry - maybe the reason for the adoption?

I'll look further to see if I can find a death for Bertram
