There are a couple of marriages I could see for a Matthew Castellain but neither to a Mary.

Matthew Castellain to either Margaret Ellen Gregson or Agnes Hilton 3rd quarter 1893 Liverpool 8b page 145

Matthew Castellain to either Elizabeth Crompton or Elizabeth Walton 1st quarter 1907 West Derby 8b page 478

If you could post the names of any of your grandparents children it might help to track them down

you should find marys maiden name on ANY of her childrens birth certs, or if you can find a baptism you might find it there also. true you might find her maiden name on a marriage cert also but if a wife is married prior to the husband you are looking at she will be entered under the previous married name there might or might not be a note saying 'nee' but under the fathers name the name will say her birth name thats if she did not lie



both of the following entries from parish records for my own family will show you what i mean

Wife: Charlotte ASTLETT Age: 19

Marriage Date: 10 Dec 1864 Recorded in: Herriard, Hampshire, England

Husband's Father: James PIPER

Wife's Father: Peter ASTLETT

so basically you have two ways to get the name by the marriage or childs birth records
