Thread: Parish Records Online??

Evening all,

Does anyone know of a DECENT website that doesn't cost the earth to access, that has Parish Records viewable online please? Just found something called OriginsNetwork and Boyds Index. Anyone have experience of these please?

Boyd's Marriage Index is an index to English marriages taken from copies of parish marriage registers, Bishop's Transcripts and marriage licences, for the period 1538 to 1840. Although each county is covered, none is complete, (12-15% total) the best coverage is for anyone researching East Anglia.

Thanks Starlight, yeah - someone mentioned the other day that e.Anglia's records are complete. How annoying... Is Boyds viewable online do ya know?

Boyds is on the origins website - but it would be expensive just to look at this - especially as the coverage is quite limited. Better I think just to ask for a look up on one of the Help boards.

Not all that many parish records are available online - Familyhistoryonline has some - it is a pay site but reasonable - I have a thread on Help Offered.

You can always try freeREG - you might be lucky though the cover is very limited at present.

Or simply google the parish you are looking for and see what comes up - there are bits of coverage around on CDs etc but not always free!

have you looked at freereg sitersite to both freebmd and freereg records are being added there although slowly it is growing

but of more interest to you try this.



currently vourious groups are getting together to transcrib parish records and make them freely available to all. all current ones in operation can be found here
