Thread: Help please

Hi all,I have hit a brick wall,I am researching the McFarlane family,I have Agnes McFarlane married to 1st John Hunter 14/01/1837 & 2nd to Peter Haggart 12/10/1846. I know she was born aprox1814--died 1906 at the home of her daughter Cathrine Hunter in Dunbarton,both her marrages were in Buchanan.On her death certificate her parents are John McFarlane & Agnes McGown have searched scotlands people and cant find this combination,dont know if family from Dunbarton area or Stirling area,any information please

I hope I'm not telling my Granny how to suck eggs here ... but have you tried searching for a marriage using just one of their first and second names; e.g. 'John McFarlane' or even 'John MacFarlane' or 'McFarland'/'Macfarland'.



Sometimes the SP site can be quite 'pedantic' when it comes to names and I've often found a marriage come up by just going on one of the names ... the other one being there when the page opens!! Their system is essentially 'human-based' after all and interpretaion of hand-written information isnae aye easy!

Have tried on IGI but again I can't seem to get the combination you are looking at...
