Thread: help, I've lost a Key

Hi

I'm trying to trace George Key, born about 1806, Norfolk.

1841 & 51 census shows him as Weaver living in Lakenham, Norfolk.

I think I've found him in 1861 census, wife and some childrens names seem to match, but moved to St Martin at Oak, Norwich and occupation as Butcher. Seems odd to change trades.

Any ideas how I can find out if its the same person.

Maybe there's a clue here! Did one of his daughter's marry a 'Galey'

i've not got much info on hannah, only on 41census or elizabeth on 51 &61 census, george seems ok back to being a weaver, 61c the mystery

I think the 61 you found is him. On the 71 Ann/Hannah is recorded as a shopkeeper......could be a butcher's shop! Also the 71 I posted has them living in St Martin at Oak, and George's occupation weaver. Therefore I'd say the above 61 and 71 are the same couple. Also on both census their next door neighbours are a Robert Carpenter and his family.



1851 census has Elizabeth, dau of George and Hannah born c. 1845.



There's an Elizabeth and Samuel Galey on the 1871, Elizabeth was born 1845.

Many thanks for your help with confirming George Key.

Now just got to find where all 11 children went, at the moment I know son Frederick married a Margaret Harvey, yet to trace, and moved to London, plus now the 2 daughters you named. I did find baptism records of a few, but Harriet and George, (twins? aged 15 on 41c) I can only find record of George baptism.

Any more hints or pointers would be much appreciated,
