Thread: surname Consort?

Hi



Doing a tree for a relative, I'm tracing a Nelson family in Steeple Aston and about 1868 a child is born called William Consort, with a mother Anne Nelson. He is in the 1871 as William Consort and in the 1881 as William C Nelson.



I assume he was born out of wedlock, possibly adopted and given the surname Nelson. I have been trying to trace his father but cannot find anyone with surname Consort. Has anyone come across any Consorts, or any ideas?



Anyone available to look in Steeple Aston parish records (c1868)?

Thanks for that. The time-scale is right and the name is a possible combination of surnames, although in the 1871 he has a first name William. He may have been christened Nelson Concert, and had it changed if his parents had a fall-out (?).



A lot of ifs and buts - I suppose you're right and a birth cert would settle things.



Before I order one, are you able to look in the 1871 census for Nelson Concert (aged 3-4) and see his family, to see if is different to the 1871 census I have for the Nelson family?
