Thread: pre 1837 help needed

hi

I'm a first timer and stuck on where to go next

Tracing William Rowland b1811, married Sarah ???

children - Daniel b1830 (christened in Southwark)

Marry b1834

1841 census shows they lived in Shoreditch, Middlesex, and William born in Wales.

How can I find where & when they married, England or Wales, and how to trace William in Wales as no county given.

Any help much appreciated

I've looked at the 1841 and 51 census records, am I right in thinking that William's wife in 1851 was Charlotte? If so, Sarah obviously died between 1841 and 51, if you can find her death record and buy the certificate, it will give you her maiden name which will help you find a marriage record. I'll take a look on Freebmd for a likely death record.

any other ideas on Wales,

would I have to search all Wales or is there a short-cut.

I think Rowland is quite a common name in Wales.

what information would Pallots hold.

It seems like he took a younger wife, Sarah took a toy boy and he had similar idea!!

Could be either of those two, son Daniel christened at St Saviours,

Southwark and Shoreditch, just the river between the two.

Does your search show any next of kin.

Cannot find record of 2nd marriage, ormum and daughter on later census.

If they were married when Daniel was born, I can't find a marriage that would fit from Pallot's.

Dave, looking at the original image of the 1851 census young Charlotte's name looks more like HARMAN or HOUSMAN to me, not Storman, it is difficult to read though.
