Looking for Thomas Hargreaves, born c1853 West Macclesfield Cheshire East,
he married Emily Keen in 1875. They had one daughter Hannah born 1876.

Hi Pauline
The 1891 census at 23 Bridge St, Sutton, Macc, has Emily Hargreaves, 37 and dau Hannah, 15 (both cotton spinners) boarding with Hannah Keen, 67. It has Emily as unmarried (widowed, divorced or separated?)
The 1901 has Emily, 47, wid, at a court house in High St Macclesfield. She is housekeeper with 2 young children (surname Mason).
I'd say Thomas died 1875-1881, but can't find a death for him. He worked on railways, which wasn't a safe occupation.

Hi John,
Thankyou so much for your reply, your help is very much appreciated..
Oh dear I just checked the cheshire bmd site and there's a Hannah Kean (Keen) married to Edwin Wain in 1861 in Prestbury. Hannah born Sep 1841. In the 1881 Census it shows that Jane Wain the daughter of Hannah was living with her grandparents Arthur and Caroline Keen nee Hildage. It gets so confusingI thought I was doing so well to
Unless the other Hannah aged 67 in the 1891 Census born 1824 happens to be Arthur's sister which would then make Hannah the Aunt.
Hi Pauline
Tracing Hannah Keen (c1824)
1891 - single with two nieces (Elizabeth Kennerley,30, and Jane Kennerley,
29, and two Kennerley sons(?) Herbert,4, and Joe,3) and Emily Hargreaves,37 and dau Hannah, 15.
1881- 117 Park Lane, Macc
Hannah Keen, unm, 58, smallwear dealer + a lodger Elizabeth Wagg,68
1861 - 182 Park Lane, Macc
Peter Keen, 71, hatter, Sarah, 74, wife, formerly silk piecer, Hannah, unm, dau, 37, silk piecer, Hannah, unm, grandau, 19, silk piecer, Mary A Mason, boarder, 11 [note - 1901 has Emily Hargreaves with 2x Mason children?]
1841 - Prestbury, Macc
Peter Keen, 50, hatter, Sarah, 50, dressmaker, Hannah, 15, silk doubler(?)
There is another Peter Keen (about 2 doors away) age 75, ag lab
So it looks like Hannah Keen (c1824) never married, but may have had a daughter Hannah. They don't make it easy do they?
Best wishes, John
Hi John.
Now I'm cooking gas LOL joe and Herbert Kennerley were my mum's uncle's second cousins. That's brilliant. Thankyou so much.
No our ancestors don't make it easy
