Thread: 1871 census lookup please

I am looking for Charles Backhurst. His wife Charlotte (nee Marks) born 1848 in Otterbourne Hampshire is with her parents in Otterbourne, married but no sign of Charles. He was still alive as a child was born in 1873. They married in Winchester in 1870 but I do not know where Charles was born. Can anyone help please.

I'm struggling to find Charles on the 1871 census, or any census at all.



A probable birth is Winchester June 1848.



Have you found Charlotte on censuses after 1871?

By 1881 Charles, Charlotte and Rosie are all missing. Ada is with her grandparents.



Don't worry too much about it as I am not sure how I would prove it is him unless he turns up with the others.

Leave it for now, I have just noticed a Charlotte Marks marrying in 1873 in Winchester. This could be her.

It wasn't her but it has given me a second marriage for her Aunt
