Default Newcastle, Patterson Birth lookup please

Can any one do me a birth look up for my great grandfather William Patterson c1849 who married mary Anne Errington on the 4th Jan 1871 at St Peters , Newcastle, I know from the marriage certificate that his father was Christopher Patterson a miner and William gave his age as 22.

I have found Williams registered in Newcastle and hope someone is able to look them up for me

William Patterson Jul /sep 1848 Newcastle (Vol 25 page 383)

    William Patterson Jan /Mar 1848 , Newcastle (Vol 25 page 355)

William Patterson Jul /Sep 1850, newcastle (vol 25 page 413)

I realise I will have to order a birth certificate but I am trying to narrow down on the No of Williams I have to look at. In the 1851 census I have found a Christopher Patterson c1817 with a son William c1850 born Gosforth and this may be the correct family.

Any advice or help would ge aprreciated, I have been doing my tree for 6 months now.

    Cheers Alan Patterson

    Hi Alan,

I think you can discount the one born in 1850, as he would have only been 21 in Jan 1871.

    Hi Starlight,

I never ruled out the 1850 date as I am a bit dubious about the dates on the marriage certificate as it has Mary Anns age as 21 and William as 22 but in the 1871 Census of the same year she is 16, and in 1901 she was 46, so 16 seems to be her correct age, William is down as 21 in the census. At first I thought I had the wrong certificate but Mary Anns father is correct.

    Cheers Alan
