Thread: I've got a marriage but no maiden name...

I have the place, year & month of my G.G.Grandfather's marriage & the Volume & Page of the marriage record. I want to find out who he married but all I have is her christian names... no surname.

Is there any way I can find out who she is without getting a copy of their marriage certificate?

His name is Arthur Crockford, He was married in Winchester in May 1866 to a girl called Sarah Ann from Crawley.

Hi have you tried free birth marraige and death? if you put in your gt grandfathers name if it is on there click on the vol number and brides name will come up

There's something very odd about 1866 records, as if you do a BMD search on Ancestry using just the two first names you will only get one hit, however for 1865 and1867 there are countless records, I can only assume from this that 1866 hasn't been fully transcribed.
