Thread: Armour George Donald Grieve

George Donald Grieve Armour was born in Gibraltar about 1846 to William Henry Armour and Unknown mother.William was a sapper in the British Army there. I do not know what regiment he was attached to. He reportedly married a Spanish girl there. They went back to Britian when George was an infant .George ran away to sea at the age of 11 and apparently was on a survey ship round Africa as a boy. He is reputed to have joined the Royal Navy also. I cannot find any info on census that tied in with any of this. Similar stuff but nothing conrete. Where do you suggest trying next. I wrote to Gibraltar but they want an arm and a leg to look stuff up...

Found George Donald Grieve Armour on Cornwall Online Census Project H M Shipping Folio 12 P6.

Looks as though George aged 15 was on HMS Punch sailing from Falmouth

Found it by typing Clayslip Miles into Google
