Thread: George Henry Lewis

Hi hit a wall again. I am now trying to trace my mother side of the family. Her Father was called George Henry LEWIS born 16th April c1892 we think in Lambeth London. He had siblings Robert Sally Alice Nelly and Rose. He married Mary Margaret Facey we think sometime in the 1930's. He served in WW1 in either the East or West Kents and fought at Ypres. But this is all I know. Can anyone help?

This may be him on the 1901 census - nearest I can find at the moment



Walworth does fall within the Registration District of Southwark



There is a brother Robert and sisters Alice and Rose but there is a Sarah and no mention of Sally or Nellie - could they either have left home - or not been born yet

Nice to talk again. I have got a sneaky suspicion that George and Mary were not married for quite a few years after the birth of their youngest which was around 1928. The only problem is I don't know how long. so it could be any where from 1928 to at least 1949. The only reason I know its 1949 as george died in this year. Hope this might help. All the rest, as usual it perfect thanks.

Crikey 1947, wait till I tell my mother!! She will have a good laugh. Thanks for your help. I hope you don't think it is a cheek, but would you be able to look up further up the Lewis line and the facey line. Mum think that further back in the Facey line there are sum links to Hull. I really do appreciate all your work for us.
