Thread: 1881 lookup please (Samuel Wells)

Hi Everyone,



Im trying to locate Samuel Wells in 1881. He was born abt 1806 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. He married Harriet Holt in 1826. They pretty much lived in Gorleston. But i can't find them anywhere in 1881 and they were around in 1891.

I can't even find that Gorleston has been transcribed on Ancestry in 1881.

I did have a quick look on Ancestry earlier and couldn't find him.



I have just checked on the IGI site and you can specify the town from a drop down list.



Gorleston does not appear on the list for Norfolk on the 1881 census according to that site.



Perhaps something happend to the census return

I think there's a strong chance that this census record is them. Everything fits except the name........Richard Wills (could he have been Samuel richard?) shoemaker, Harriet his wife and John grandson, all ages, birth places and address same as 1871. Take a look and see what you think!!?

Well that would explain why we can't find Gorleston on the 1881 - they have moved it - and Great Yarmouth to Suffolk.
