Default Major brick wall for Bishop/Wood surname

I need a marriage look-up for Thomas Bishop and Elizabeth Wood. They married in the June quarter of 1841 at Holy Trinity, Wordsley, Worcestershire. I'm looking for the names of their parents, or who ever is listed on the marriage cert., license, or what ever they used in 1841 for the marriage. I was advised from another forum to visit my local Family History Center of the LDS. They DO Not have the marriage info as the date (year) is not on film. I would order the cert. but I am disabled and unable to work. I would appreciate any help on this. If this info helps: Thomas was born est. 1809-1815 in Cleobury Mortimer or Hopton Wafers, Shropshire. Elizabeth was born est 1813-1815 in Lye, Worcester.

Thanks for response Slizzy. I know of James and Mary. But here's the problem, On all but one census, it lists Thomas from Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire. One census stated him from Hopton Wafers, Shropshire. Talk about being thrown off the track. Now the James and Mary you found did have a son Thomas Christened in 1817 in Cleobury Mortimer. But there is also a Bishop family, a William Bishop and Elizabeth Weaver, who had a son Thomas. But he was born in 1809. I have been told in the past that census' of that era had a tendancy of adding, like, five years to a persons age. Plus, many of your poorer families did not always know when they were born. My Thomas and his family were of poor stock. So, therefore I have his est. birth years 1809-1815. That's why I'm hoping someone will look up the marriage info on Thomas and Elizabeth.

    Hi Sweetamber,

The 1841 census rounded ages DOWN to the nearest multiple of 5, so on the 1851 census people can appear to have aged by 5yrs.......they haven't of course, as all census after 1841 had 'true' ages, the 'true' age was whatever the enumerator was told.........he relied on their memory's. Another thing to remember, particularly with poorer families.........baptisms often took place when the child was a few years old, and a few children of the family would be baptised together as this saved money.

I hope someone from the Worcestershire area sees your post, and is able to help.

    Best of luck

    Slizzy
