Thread: Wilson Grayson & sarah Grayson

Hi Guys



I'm needing a bit of help with this father & daughter



Sarah is my Gt Gt Granny and I have been having trouble locating her! She married Gt Gt Grandad in Mar 1876 in Manchester, I have just received the marriage cert which gives her age as 25 and her father as Wilson Grayson - Shoemaker.



On most census she gives her place of birth as Burstone, Staffordshire and born c 1849-51. I have her on the 1881,91 & 1901 but nothing before this.



On searching for her father I found that he was born c1827-1830 Kendal, Westmoreland. I have him with his parents on 1841, then on 1851 I have him with Hannah ? (cant find a marriage!) in Shelton, Stoke on Trent....there is a birth for a Sarah registered in Jun 1851 at Stoke on Trent.



I can find no trace of him on the 1861, on the 1871 He is with his 2nd wife Elizabeth, as visitors at 13 New Bridge ST, Manchester...by 1881 he is listed as Thomas Grayson residing at 23 Pilling St, Manchester and by 1891 he is back as Wilson Grayson living at 37 Frederick St, Salford. He died in 1893.



Sooo where was Sarah on the 1861 & 1871 and where was Wilson on the 1861 ????



I cant find a death for Hannah in the "right" area, but presumably she did die before he married ELizabeth in 1868

Lol and on the 1851 Census Hannahs father an siblings are lodging with them! I really must look moe closely at these things...must be out of practice!

I have just printed the Census off...and its definately Grayson....and she's mine!



The 1871 she is living in the Parish of St JOhn in the Deansgate area......



Sarah & George were married at St Johns Church and both listed 191 Deansgate, Manchester as their abode! AND she was a Servant!

Bringing one of me 'owd chestnuts to top!



STILL got nothing on 1861 Census for Sarah or her parents and NOTHING on the POOLE family who were living with Hannah & Wilson on the 1851.



Surely the whole family couldn't have been wiped out??



Sarah ws born in Staffordshire c1851...just after the census and then there is nothing until the marriage of Wilson Grayson in Sep 1868 when he married Elizabeth LOGAN at St Johns Manchester.



I have both Sarah & Wilson on 1871 and above.....just the 1861 thats a puzzle.....can't find a death record for Hannah either
