Thread: Registration Districts

Could someone please help me. I am trying to find a birth without much success. It is for a Sophia Freer (I am beginning to wonder if this is a middle name) 1840 (according to cencus) born in Hammersmith. I have tried to find out what registration district this would have come under in 1840 via Genuki but cannot find before 1889. Could someone please help me with this. If I have the district I may be able to match it up. Julie

Have checked all the usual source's without trace, could be the birth was never registered.

I think it would have been Middlesex, although not too sure, maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Have you searched "Free B/M/D" If you search Births for the Phonetic spelling for "Freer" and enter Sophie you get 8 Returns not for Freer as follows " Farrer, Frarah, Farrar, Fryer, The best being Sopia Frarah London 1838 Sept Quarter, If you do this do not enter any Districts or Counties.

And I think you will find Hammersmith came under Kensington, Middlesex between 1837 and 1875
