Thread: 1891 & 1901 lookups please

I am trying to Find a Stephen and Eliza Willis that married in Shirley, Hampshire in 1884. Stephen's residence at the time was Freemantle Hampshire. His father was George. I am trying to find his place of birth without any luck.

This sounds like it could be him. He married Eliza Goodchild which is the main surname in my tree. I have been trying to find if they had children but I am sure that I have tried Hampshire as a place of birth for him. Eliza's siblings spent most of their time in workhouses and industrial schools, so maybe this marriage didn't last either.

I have just had another look at the marriage certificate for May 1884 and it says that he was aged 21. Occupation - Fireman. Occupation of father - Shipwright

Don't know about this one Starlight.........he wasn't born in Hants though he is living there.

Just read your last post.........the 1891 can't be him, as he was a waiter in 1881. Sorry! Back to the drawing board.

This maybe worth looking at Starlight. 1881 Stephen Waller (could be mistranscription) he's a railway fireman in Bermondsey, born in Kent.

You beat me too it. The first one is not him. I will take a look at the next one. I am sure I have found Eliza's death. If this is her she must be on both census' somewhere.

BINGO ........found Eliza, Starlight. She's listed as Eliza KNIGHT but on the original sheet she's WILLIS.
