Thread: Goonan and Else

Hi am searching for parents of Arnold Foster Goonan born 1899 not sure if England or Ireland, he married Iris May Else born June 1900 and she came from Maidstone, Kent.

They migrated to Australia but not sure if before or after marriage.



Also searching for parents of Albert E Else born 1874 Maidstone, kent who was a lolly shop keeper in the 1901 census and married an Eliza E born 1874 London City.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, that looks like their marriage. It will fit also with the eldest child being born the following year. The only way of definately confirming that it is the right one is by purchasing the marriage certificate. If this was my one I would be happy with this info.



The link will only open for people that have access to Ancestry. I do it this way as a lot of people do have access but haven't succeeded in finding the one they were looking for. Thanks again for the info. Have had a look at ancestry and saved images to shoebox for the future. Only trouble is I don't know what the shoebox is or where to find it again. As I said this is all new to me.

On Arnold Foster Goonan, I had a look and it appears he may have been born in Victoria, Aust, 1899 so would appreciate help on where to look properly.

Couldn't find any additional children between 1902-13 so the family either stopped having kids, content with two, or moved away.



I looked on the earlier Pioneer Index (1836-1888) and found their mother. No luck on the father as yet...

Thanks for that info. Arnold did have another younger brother whose name was Rowley so that appears to be the correct family. Guess Arnold Foster was named after his birthplace and Rowley after his mother. If Rowley didn't show up in Vic maybe they moved to W.A. and he was born here.

Arnold died 1975 and Rowley 1990 in Perth W.A.



Father Edmond and mother Deborah, do you know where Castlemaine and Wickliffe are?
