Thread: Davie, Hunn, Pentecost

I'm searching desperately for my family. So far I've got myself to 840 names on various sides of the family. But my direct family always seem to appear out of no where.



DAVIE





I have back to a Sinclair Keith Davie who was born in Birmingham, Warwick, England in 1806. He died (in Tasmania Australia I believe) on 24 Jul 1874. He was married to Lucy Jane Donn (b. Hobart, Tasmania, July 1818)



His kids were all born in Tasmania, Australia.

Hunn



I have back to Edward William Hunn born 1837 at Flattop, Tasmania, and died 1896. He was married to Mary Jane Hodson (also Hodgson or Hudson) on June 5 1867.

In Tasmania there was also a Jacob Hunn in the 1830's born in Greater Swanport, but I have searched high and low and cannot find a connection. There was a theory among our family that there were 2 brothers (and a cousin) who were in the merchant marines who jumped ship. One went to richmond area, one to swansea area and one to Colebrook area.

Apparently Edward William's father's name was John Hunn.





Pentecost



I have back to a William Pentecost, born Cambridge, England, who married Mary Martha Jeanes (from Dorsetshire) in 1868.



Their children were born in Ballarat, Victoria, and Snapper Point, Victoria.

The Bentley's before James William in 1863 of the Longford area, Tasmania

The Tubb's before Daniel in 1824 of the Longford area, Tasmania

The Ayling's before Henrietta in 1830 of the Longford area, Tasmania

The McRae's before Farquhar 1674, Kintail, Ross, Scotland

The Marsh's before Joshua in 1824, Austonley, Yorkshire, England

The Crosland's before Mary Ann in 1830, Austonley, Yorkshire, England

The Day's before Frances in the early 1900's Tasmania



But for now, I am searching mainly for the Davie's, the Hunn's and the Pentecosts... who all come out of nowhere in the 1800's.

A William PENTECOST arrived in Victoria in Oct 1849 aged 13 with his parents William (35) and Phoebe (42), and sister Elizabeth (11). They were aboard the Mahomed Shah.
