    Default Missing - William Knight

Going through some of my 'loose ends' I've come across this chap.

William Knight (b.1866 I think). He married Ellen Elizabeth Pendered in 1893 and lived in Rushden Northants. Seems they both died relatively young and the children they had ended up being send to grandparents. Ellen was still alive in the 1901 census and classed as Head of the household but married. Can't seem to find William anywhere. The new Rushden site has all the census records up to 1901 and there are a lot of Williams but none that fit this chap. Where would he have gone ? I looked on Freebmd and found a death in 1907 when he was 41 but if thats him, where was he until then. Hospital maybe ? Any ideas how I can find out ?

Star, wonder if you can help me further with this one. I've found a 'possible' contact who has a William Knight, same d.o.b. and town. He got sent to Australia and there was wife and children left behind here but I don't have any dates to go on when this might have happened. Been through the 'links and tips' for Australian convicts but can't find anyone around 1900 or just before.

    Hi Mary,

There are a couple of trees on Ancestry with a William Knight born c1863 Rushden - parents Thomas Dainty Knight and Elizabeth Perrin but unfortunately none of them seem to have got any further than this.

That's definitely my lot gillian. But husband William isn't there. He can't have died otherwise she'd have been classed as 'widow'. I'm trying to fathom out whether he just went off and left her or whether he was either in a sanatorium or been sent to prison, or as a possible contact says, sent to Australia.

Thanks Gillian. Didn't know that. Is there any other reason why he might have been 'sent'' there ? My possible contact says he was ''sent' and she thought the family would follow on later but they never did.
