Thread: Joseph Rusell 1827

I am trying to find out the names of Joseph Russells parents,Joseph was born in 1827 in Darfield Yorkshire. I thought that his parents were Joseph Russell born 1791 and Martha but he does not appear on the 1841 census with the rest of the family, I realise that he could have been away when the census was taken.Also I would like to know Martha's maiden name if that is possible. Joseph Russell (04/12/1791) married Martha?

Lived at Woodlaithes, Darfield

Elizabeth

Ann Cash (wondered if this is Marthas mother)



I thought they had another child called Joseph born about 1827, but no mention in this census, this is who I am trying to find.They usually did name one child after the father, so would think that they had a Joseph.No birth certificates before 1837, so cannot find out from that.

Even if a Joseph Russell turned up on another 1841 census we would not know if his parents were my Joseph and Martha.

i the 1861 census the family had moved to west melton.

On 1841 there is a Joseph Russell age 15 in Wathe upon Dearne (not far from Darfield) apprentice carpenter in a family of Greens headed by Joseph Green carpenter.

My guess is that is him.

I checked Joseph & Martha on 1841 - there is a gap for Joseph!

Russells are my maternal ancestors, I think you have helped me before when trying to trace my Grandfather Roland Russell. I do not think I will ever find out what happened to him! Pity I did not ask more relatives before it was too late!!!

I don't think the marriage is there though
