Thread: Smiths!!

can anyone help me, how do I start looking for my grandfather Henry John Smith's birth, I have his marriage certificate age 21 years to Theodora Creeper dated 10th February 1923 , residence at time of marriage Clay Pits Edenbridge Kent. So one would presume he was born there.......



I know by 1926 Henry was still living in Clay Pits Edenbridge, according to birth cert. of my mother Kathleen Margaret. By 1947 Henry was living in Warlingham Surrey according to my mothers marriage cert.......



Henry also liked to call himself Harry !! oh deary me.........



On the marriage certificate to my grandmother Theodora Creeper he chose the name Harry Smith, and his father before him, although they were both named Henry John.......



Has anyone any idea where I might start.........

If you know his parents names you could request the cert only IF parents names match......there may be a small charge for searching , but it wouldnt cost the full £7

Hi Lozzie, thank you for the information, alas I do not know the mothers name , only that his father had the same name, will send away for this anyway, methinks it will be trial and error for the time being.....

Success!! finally have the correct Death Certificate for Henry John Smith , now waiting for his Birth Certificate, have also found another son and daughter of his and their partners.......



We all get there in the end..........

I grew up near Warlingham!

Sadly this birth cert was incorrect, but now I have the correct birth date, I have ordered yet another birth cert. for Henry John Smith, with the correct birth date as a reference checking point.
