Thread: cant find marriage

hi all

i have been stuck with this particular part of my tree for a long time now and i was wondering if anyone could help me.

i am trying to find the wives and children of my grandfathers 4 brothers for some reason i cant find them the only info i have is that the eldest son owned a sweet shop in lucey road bermondsey called sherwoods.



the brothers are

james hammond......born 1884

ernest hammond .....born 1886

henry hammond......born 1888

albert hammond ......born 1895

they were all born in the st olave area of bermondsey london. I will be greatfull for any help anyone can give

4th quarter 1911 Albert W F Hammond St Olave 1d 373 to either Lilian M Axton or Florence M Whitaker

thank you for replying so quick , i have just had a look at my tree and that is probably him my alberts middle name was william , the f is probably frederick which was my grandfathers name.

thank you now i have to work out which wife , wow you was fast i have been trying for months .

The easiest way to find out is to search for your Grandfathers birth registration as this will then give his mothers maiden name!

I think I have ruled out Lilian Axton.

Possibly a son?

The most likely marriage for James -

4/1908 James Henry Hammond to either Ellen Harris or Frances Sarah Sherwood - St Olave 1d 316

(There is also a James Henry marriage 4/1908 Pancras 1b 159 to either Maud Post or Annie Eliz Bennett)

this is brilliant thank you , i am curious about james marriage because the shop he owned was called sherwoods ,it was called that before he bought it but i do know his wifes parents were not happy with the marriage and disowned her maybe it was their daughter , i think i will visit the library and see what i can find out about the shop it may give me a clue.
