Thread: Birth registration help please

Can anybody help me work out who Jack/James N is please. Henry, Eliza and Thomas are all registered under South Stoneham, Hampshire. There is a Jack Goodchild born in Worthing 1864 but a phone call from the records office tells me his parents are completely unrelated to my tree. I can find neither name registered in Hampshire or Littlehampton.

Have just had a look at the 1881 image & I think it probably says Jack not James N

The only Jack I could find was the one in Worthing. Thomas his father didn't die until Dec 1865, so Thomas and Eliza should be his parents. The child Thomas was born 5 months after his death.

Jack was often a nickname/alternative name used for John..........so I wondered have you checked John Goodchild's? There are one or two born around 1864

I have looked at the image and can see Jack now. Talk about lousy writing . I might send off for that certificate just incase the same person wrote that out.

The Elizabeth on the 1891 was born in Beavois Valley Canada.



Eliza on 1881 born Beavois Valley Southampton?



Could Elizabeth and John be your Eliza and Jack?

Yes that is him. His mother was Elizabeth Mason. Now he is James/Jack/John lol. I can't see him on free BMD but will look through Ancestry. Thanks

Elizabeth was born in Southampton, England. I haven't had any luck with John either.
