Default How likely do you think these are the same people ?

I am looking for an Albert Edward Stockwell he was born abt 1898 and i have some info from an old aunt

saying that his mother was a Phoebe (nee smith) and his dad was a Charles Stockwell .

This is info from another searcher and we think we might be related by marriage and blood

just trying to tie it all in .

Now i have wrote this down i can't see the link as i thought i could.....

Charles Stockwell was suppose to have married a Phoebe Smith and had a son Albert Edward in 1898 .

I read as that the phoebe in the 1901 census was the mother of albert e smith in 1901 but the charles i thought was his dad would have only been 11 ish when he fathered him ............

If anyone can either shed any light on this please do i would be very grateful Tina

he does not seem to be around in the 1901 census! however I think this is Rhoda -

    CENSUS:

    3. 1901 Census, RG13-1120-53-24 Newbury, Berkshire.

    "Name Age Birthplace Relationship Occupation

George Smith 12 Andover, Hampshire, England Son

Louisa Smith 9 Andover, Hampshire, England Daughter

Freedom Smith 8 Andover, Hampshire, England Daughter

Ethel Mary Smith 6 Andover, Hampshire, England Daughter

Albert E Smith 2 Andover, Hampshire, England Son

    1 Kennet Court.

My reason for thinking this is that there is no Smith birth registration for the post 1891 births but there seems to be a Stockwell one for most of the names!

    Hi Stilllooking,

It looks very possible to me. If you compare the 1901 and the 1891 census. Start from the bottom of 1901 at george and work upwards. The ones below were not born in 1891. The ones towards the top have probably left home. I would say Boda was meant to be Rhoda. If the parents had seperated it would not be unusual for the wife to revert to her maiden name.

    You then have

    George 2 / George 12

    Charles 4 / Charles 14

    Daisy 5 / Daisy 15

    Boda 34 / Rhoda 46

    Thanks Starlight....

I have confused myself , which is not too hard !!

The mention of blood and marriage ties is between myself and the other

    researcher , lol.

I just cannot work out if the charles aged 14 is married to the Phoebe who is 18 .

If this is the right Charles then this is the right Albert E Smith .

Roll on Friday or Monday when his birth cert should arrive.

Off to search for the marriage cert of Phoebe Smith and Charles Stockwell ,

Smiths i'm gonna need some luck , lol.

    Hi Tina,

Don't worry, I have just re-read it and am now confused myself . If it is the right one I think I know what the birth certificate will say. Now I can't wait either.

Just looked again and see what I did the first time now. Rhoda was born in Berkshire (1881 census) and in 1901 was back living in Berkshire.
