    Default Grandfather Edward (H) Oakley b.1899

    Somebody help PLEASE, before I go mad....

    Edward Oakley, possible middle name Henry. b. 26 Dec 1899.No Birth Cert Confirmation, just family knowledge. Area born The Black Country, so I believe that is the West Midlands, taking in parts of Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire.

    I have obtained his Marriage Cert, and his fathers name is given as George Oakley, Blacksmith, Edward m. Elizabeth Mary Wadd, Jan 4th 1919 both were aged 19 yrs. Married in West Dulwich, London, Where Elizabeth lived.

    I have searched & searched for any further info to take me back along the line, I cannot find an Edward living with parents and a father named George, Or any census with George Oakley, Blacksmith.

    Where is he, Edward Or George.

    Many Thanks to whoever has an answer....

    Jennie

    If as you believe, Edward was born on Boxing Day 1899, then his birth would not have been registered until the Jan-Feb-Mar Qtr of 1900.

    There is a birth in Aston, Birmingham for an Edward Oakley in that qtr, have you ever considered this one? The details are;

    births Mar 1900

    Oakley. Edward. Aston 6d 264.

    Hi Nanna, Thanks very much for those look ups, I can do the 1901 census, as I belong to Ancestry.com. The thing is George Oakley has to be a Blacksmith with a son called Edward who was born in 1899. My Grandad was a Brummie, I don't know what his father was, and I do know from previous ancestry Blacksmiths do tend to move around. So lets keep fingers crossed...

    Regards Jennie
