Would some kind person please look up for me on the Census for 1881 & 1891 & 1901 Cenus for Dumfriesshire. these people.

I did have a quick look on the free 1881 British census on familysearch.org but it didn't come up with any matches for James Johnston, I'm afraid.

I'm sorry but I don't have access to 1891 or 1901 at the moment

Have looked on the 1891 & 1901 Scottish census, but there isn't a James Johnston or a James Johnstone shown as born in Troqueer, Dumfriesshire.



There are several James of both surnames shown on the census's, do you have an alternative place of birth, or perhaps the name of his wife. I'd love to help, but can't get any further at the moment.



I have access to the Scottish census 1841-1901.

I found the same as Brummieboy when this post first went up. The James referred to on the one that Slizzy has found was born in Maxwelltown, Kirkcudbrightshire
