I was wondering if someone could help me! I have found a family member in Woking Prison 1891. Is there anyway I could find out the reason why?

I have printouts of three belonging to my tree. I was lucky to find someone that was willing to look them up at the records office which in this case was Winchester, Hampshire. Maybe there will be someone on site that can do the same for you.

You may be able to get the prison to check the archive files, or check the local court records of around that date. Maybe there was a newspaper report, you could check that.



Nowdays it's all recorded on computer, and easier to find, but back then it would have been written down 'somewhere'.
