    Hi Paulette

Did you follow up the death of Ellen Greenwood or the Fred Greenwood marriage I found in 1901? (see your previous thread).

Can you clarify who it was who was born in 1837?

    Hi Paulette

I put the references on a previous thread.

I don't think you are going to get any further by searching the 1901 census.

I have had a look back at your previous threads and the Fred who was the son of Thomas and Ellen (Littlewood) could well be the one and is almost certainly on the 1901 census as a hairdresser married to Margaret Emma (Hudson). You have all the details of these.

But until you find the birth certificate for your grandfather William you have no proof that this is the right family (there are other possibilities and I can't find an early death for Margaret).

Your grandfather gave you quite a bit of information but clearly some of it was inaccurate (when parents die young children often don't have accurate info).

As you are sure now that there isn't a birth certificate for 1900 and he doesn't seem to be on the 1901 census he was probably born later. The birthday you have is probably right though the year may be wrong.

So....tedious and expensive though it may be you would probably be best looking at births between 1901 and 1905 - asking for checks to be made on the birthday and the name of the father when ordering certificates.

Does William's marriage certificate give Fred's occupation?

Not too obviously Fred the hairdresser then!

If it was me I would take a chance on this marriage certificate - Fred Greenwood 3/1901 Bradford Y 9b 282

    Hello,

I have been doing some research of my family tree which includes my great-grandfather Fred Greenwood born 3/12/1873 married to Margaret Emma (Hudson) b12/2/1872. Fred had 6 brothers and 1 sister, Aurther Harry, Ernest Willie, Albert, John, ans Sarah Ann.Fred was born in Yorkshire and Margaret was born in Kirby Malzard.Margaret had 2brothers and 3 sisters, John and Thomas and Mary Elizabeth, Jane Ann, and Charlotte Annie. Both of them move to the USA and lived in Providence Rhode Island. Fred had his own barber shop on Fairlawn Ave, at least thats what my mother recalls from her early days. Fred passed away 11/1/1927 and Margaret on 11/3/58.
