    Default Chester Courts

    Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this (feel free to move it)

Looking for court proceeding of Chester in 1793 for Joseph Wild. All the info I have on his sentence is this: 'Sentenced on 21 Aug 1793 in Chester for shooting a rabbit on another's property' He was transported to Australia in 1797 aboard the 'Ganges'...

Hope you can shed some light on this fellow... He's a suspected rellie!

    Hi Bazza

I think there's something at the National Archives - HO47/16/36 June 10 1793 Joseph Wilde & George Wilde convicted of burglary - transportation for life. Have a look - it seems to be some correspondence.

Only the reference can be seen online unfortunately.

Wonder if he is the same Joseph WILD who was charged with receiving stolen goods in 1799?!

    Thanks again Cherilyn,

I didn't have that, though most of the info was in my files...

I have used the Colonial Secretary's records before, but can't seem to locate the website now. Could you possibly post the addy?

Knowing my luck I'll find it when I'm not really looking for it, write it down, then lose the bit of paper!!
