    Thanks, Big Don!

I need to go to the library to view the images you so graciously found. I am looking forward to seeing what you discovered.

I wonder when Frederick married Mary Ann Bailey given he is listed as a lodger in 1901 and that my GM was born in 1904, and she had at least 1 older sister.

Thanks for helping me with the journey!

    Hi kptz,

On checking 1911 and 1938 Liverpool Street Directorie's I found James Frederick Miller listed at 67 Braesnose Road,Kirkdale,Liverpool.

I then checked Free BM&D's from 1890 upto 1916 and although there were a number of marriage's there were none showing Mary Ann Bailey as a possible partner.

I think you may have to start looking for James Frederick's death and apply for a copy certificate to find out who the informant was. There is a possibility, that James and Mary Ann never married !

Nanna -- thanks you so..much! 67 Braesnose Road is the address listed on my GM (Lily Miller) marriage certificate in 1923.

Did you find him listed as a shopkeeper? My late mother always said her grandfather was a dutch sea captain. However, we all know that family lore is not always accurate!

It is interesting about the name of my GGF - a cousin I recently was able to contact said his name was James Frederick Miller. On the birth certificate for my GM his name is listed as Frederick; however, on the marriage cerificate for my GM his name is listed as James Frederick. I know both certificates relate to my GM.

I will take your suggestion and look for his death entry -- have to get to the library! If they were not married, is there a way to find Mary Ann?

    Thank you for your generosity!

btw--Please accept my best thoughts and prayers for all of you who have been affected by the heavy rains and floods.

    Hi,

Sorry both listings didn't say what James Frederick's occupation was.

Hi Nanna - thanks for checking! I found out one of my mother's first cousin's is still alive. I wrote to her and she told me that the family was originally from Warren Point in County Down. She didn't have any other information than what I have for James. I wonder if he met Mary Ann in Ireland and then moved to England or, if Mary Ann's family moved from Ireland and they met in England....more detective work to be done!

    I appreciate all your help

I went to the library to find the 1901 census record Big Don found and instead found a listing for 67 Braesnose Road listing

    Fred Miller

    Mary A Miller

with 6 children, the youngest being 3 at the time and whose name was Nellie, the name I am familiar with as on of my grandmother's sisters.

Intersting to note, however, that the country listed as where born is Ireland for both Fred and Mary. I am guessing that perhaps there is an error in the records - that they were married in Ireland. Two of the children - 1st and 3rd - are also listed as born in Ireland. I think I heard the family was from Warren Point in County Down.

On both the birth certificate (1904) and the marriage certificate (1923) for my GM, her address is listed as 67 Brasenose Road. Maybe I got lucky!
