Thread: getting giddy

could anyone help me with a family riddle please.



On my grandfathers birth certificate it states his parents as Henry Whiteland and Lucy nee Taylor married in London 8th Jan 1878. A couple of kind people have looked for this marriage and cann't find anything.



I have a copy of a marriage cert for Henry and Lucy in Sydney Aust on 30th July 1870.



I am trying to find Henry's parents so I can tie him into my tree.



I think Henry came to Aust on the Somersetshire (not sure about Lucy).



Henry and Lucy may have seperated as Lucy married a Boardman and then a Fisher as at the time of her death in West Aust she was known as Granny Fisher.



Any idea's would be welcomed.

Just to add to the confusion. On FreeBMD there is a Lucy Whiteland/Frank Taylor marriage Chertsey in Surrey Dec Q 1867.

The only info on HENRY & LUCY'S marriage cert is the date of marriage 30th July 1870, Sydney. I think it was at 41 Burton St (and what looks like) Linton Head Road.

Henry - bachelor - builder, Lucy - spinster - occupation unreadable. No parents names or ages.

Name - George Frederich\k Whiteland (my grandfather)

When Born - 21st March 1892

Registered - 6th June 1892 in Geelong, Vic.

Where Born -something Street

Borough of Nicholas, Chilwell

County Grant (guessing somewhere in Geelong Vic)

Father - Henry Whiteland, Carpenter 46 years

Born - London, England

Married - 8th Jan 1878 in London, England

Other children - Henry 6yrs

Mother - Lucy Whiteland formerly Taylor 36 yrs

Born - Derby, England
