Marriage Robert Every to Elizabeth Hamman 24/5/1820 St Mary's Portsea ( IGI)



Found on Census 1841/1851 in Portsea - Robert age 53 (est birth date 1798)



Christening Robert Avery - 23/2/1794 North Stoneham - parents Robert Avery / Millicent Ford. also IGI



I do know that the name varied between Avery and Every as I found their children christenings on IGI - 6 as AVERY and 3 as EVERY



How can I prove that this was the same Robert Avery - son of Robert / Millicent



Has anyone got access to Marriage PR for St Marys Portsea and would it show who

his father was - or where he was born ???

Hi Davidii,



I had a look on the Igi and Robert's record is a submitted one, ie. not extracted from the parish register, one must be always cautious with submitted records. In answer to your question concerning info given in parish registers - they are all different - some being more comrehensive than others. Sorry, I am unfamiliar with the records for Portsea, maybe someone else will know wether they named mother's maiden name etc. Parish registers don't usually say where the father was born, generally, just where he was livingat the time of the event.
