hi

am looking for the birth date/place of cornthwaite john hector born c1773.
Married Anna Matilda Eyles (19^th January 1777 - Sep 1819), daughter of Richard Eyles (b1754- J.P Deputy Lt. Of Hampshire and Mayor of Petersfield ) and Anna Maria Mullens (18^th December 1752 Hambledon, Hants -14 Jun 1812, East Meon) The marriage took place on the 18^th of August 1800, East Meon, Hampshire.
Cornthwaite died Feb 1842 in Petersfield, Hampshire. He was a banker and MP.

Looking in the newspapers online, the earliest reference I have found of him is 1800, after a case it is finsihed with Solicitor Mr. Cornthwaite John Hector, Saint James-street, Portsea

1804 he is of Petersfield

1842 Jan He dissolved a partnership with Henry Lacy, of Petersfield, Hampshire, bankers

There is a marriage entry for his daughter Matilda 1843
...Sept 5th at Fulham, John Nelson Esq. of Gloucester-place, Portman -square, to matilda, daughter of the late Cornthwaite John Hector, Esq., M.P. for Petersfield

I have saved a copy of his win in 1835 and mother's death in case you don't have a copy, just let me know.

There's various BMD's for his children and grandaughter and he is found as J C Hector when I tried searching just Hector

never thought of that because of the partnership 1842 and assumed there would be something in the paper as was an MP so have just looked elsewhere and found a marriage to E.... Budd 1826

Found it twice and the second copy has Elizabeth Budd and it would be his son looking at the ref to the will

It's just that there was a George Hector son of John Hector Cornthwaite who died in France but born in Australia. (message boards Anc.) but I cannot see any JHCorntwaite on passenger lists. Was he Mayor of somewhere in Hants?

hi elaine i can't tell you how exciting this is! i have been looking for his parents for years. thank you so much for the information. i would love a copy of the 1835 win and his mothers death, i dont have either. which sites do you look at?
