Thank you John for prompting me - the answer is very slow indeed! (I have been spending too much time on Ancestry Aid). It is a huge amount of work even to get to the stage of being able to register the name with the Guild of One Name Studies - I hope to be able to do so by September.
If you google the Guild of One Name Studies you will see that the Young surname is registered with them. You might want to contact the person doing the study - he may be useful in your own research and you could ask if there is any way you could contribute.

I plan to do a one name study on the name Lighton (not Leighton). My ancestors were from Norfolk but there are groups of Lightons in Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Scotland and Ireland. I am transcribing English bmds and censuses at the moment but if anyone comes across the name in other contexts (particularly Australia), I would like to hear from you! Also as it is a big undertaking I need people to ask me how I am getting on from time to time so that I don't get discouraged and just give up!
