Surname LIGHTON (NOT LEIGHTON) I am currently trying to start a one name study on the surname Lighton. At least my branch originate from Norfolk. I have all census info and post 1837 BMDs - and marriage records from the 1801-1837 Norfolk marriage CD. But if you come across the name in any other context in the course of your research I would be very grateful if you could let me know.
    Thank you

Looking primarily for members of the Rust family. Most of them center around West Bilney. Willing to share what information I have with others pursuing this line.

    Hi Chris
Thanks for your help. According to the transporation records I found in Tasmania it states that he was tried in Norfolk on 20th March 1830, and that he was transported for 'stealing a boat'. Believed to also have been charge with vagrancy prior to this conviction. If that helps. Happy to reciprocate in kind if you need it!
    Cheers
    Ozziedragon.

Morning from Australia. This is my first message to the group. I have a few ancestors claiming to be from Norfolk, so I guess I belong. The names are LOVICK and PLOWRIGHT.
I was wondering if anyone in the group could assist me.
I have Thomas Lovick (bn approx 1809 Norwich) who was tried and transported from Portsmouth in August 1830. I have for years tried to find out where I could get a copy of his trial records. I have most of his transportation records, but am unable to locate any copy of his trial. He was literate and appears to have good knowledge of being a publican or groom. Could some one assist me by directing me to where these 1820-1830 records maybe held?
If anyone needs any Australian research - just email me. Happy to help I know what its like being a long distance from the original records.
    Cheers
